The Manager

An active football player, majored in advertising and President of the Union of Professional Football Athletes of São Paulo. All knowledge gained in these roles made Toninho Cecílio became a Football Manager.

The invitation came from Portuguesa Santista, in 2004 and Toninho helped planning the club and forming the team that played the first division of the São Paulo Championship in 2005.

Also in 2005, Toninho Cecilio was invited to manage the Technical Football Coordination of Fortaleza, which would return to the Serie A of the Brazilian Championship.

Cecílio left Fortaleza after the 8th round of the 2006 Brazilian Championship. In 2007 he returned to São Paulo as the coach of Guaratiguetá during the first division of the Paulista Championship, but two months later, he was invited by Palmeiras to become Football Manager, position that he held played until early 2010.

2007 – As a Manager, Toninho built a whole restructuration at Palmeiras' Soccer Department (Youth and Professional) with the implementation of a new contract management system, discipline, bonus and the search for talented players. Palmeiras ended the Campeonato Brasileiro at 7th place and fought for the opportunity to play Copa Libertadores until the last round of the Brazilian League
2008 – Palmeiras was Paulista Championship (São Paulo regional competition) and obtained the opportunity to play 2009 Copa Libertadores.
2009 – Eliminated at the quarter finals of Copa Libertadores, 5th place at the Campeonato Brasileiro (Led the competition during 19 rounds).
